ok i have a group of 3 girls and a neutered boy.

the boy is in his element but the girls are not happy. sometimes they are fine togetehr and other times 2 of the girls will chase, head high, pee on, teeth chatter and headbutt the boy.

do i leave them to sort it out? they've been together for 2 weeks on tuesday. or give it up as a bad group? nelson seems quite happy and is often found with his head to someones bum, rumbling away to them and himself attempted humping (never goes well) and popcorns quite a lot, but he is young lol. i'm just worried one of the girls will hurt him. they can be quite narky.

any advise welcome. i'm in two minds and not sure.

thanks

I'd ask Wiebke she is very knowledgeable and is very experienced with herd relationships :)

Dont think she's on right now though?

I would leave them together. The behaviour you describe is normal, the girls are letting him know his advances aren't wanted. When my head sow is in season she causes far more trouble than the boar, she persecutes everyone else & has given the odd nip but it settles down quickly.

thank you i thought it was normal. i just want things to settle down, I'm impatient!

They are still in the dominance phase - give them time. In my Tribe, it takes 2-4 weeks until the whole group is settled down again to everypig's satisfaction. The behaviour is very normal for sows not in season putting a boar into place.

Hywel thankfully has a dark face, otherwise he'd sported a VERY yellow nose!
