hi, I currently have 3 guinea pigs that are all on wood shavings and paper bedding I am adopting a skinny pig next week and have fleece snuggles for inside his bed but I have been looking into trying out fleece liners but I just need advice on what to do and not to do also where to put litter boxes and how to get him to use them. I spot clean the best I can in the current cages so that wouldn't be a problem it's just preventing the fleece from becoming soggy. If you have any tips I would much appreciate it :)

If you wash the fleece 4-6 times before using it (do not add softener to the wash), the fleece starts to wick which means liquid will pass right through it, leaving it feeling dry.
You then place an absotbant layer under the fleece (like a towel or puppy pads) and that absorbs the moisture, leaving the top feeling dry.

I find my pigs use the litter box best when it's in the corner (I use a cat litter box). Put lots of hay either in it or above it (hay bag attached to the side of the cage) and they will be automatically drawn to it to eat. They popped and wee a lot while eating so that results in most of the water going in the litter tray.

Thank you for the reply I'll try the fleece with the new skinny and if all goes well I'll introduce it to my other piggies :)

My two sows are on fleece (liner with fleece, zorb and fleece) in a pet shop cage (150cm x 70cm). They have a 32litre storage box as a litter tray with hemparade (hemp bedding from zooplus) and HAY. They use the litter tray for most of their wees. Guinea pigs like to wee and poo as they eat so litter trays full of hay work well.

I am sure a skinny pig will appreciate the cosy fleece hides. Look forward to seeing piccies when you have the chance to take/post some.
