Hi, I will be having a skinny pig in the following months and was looking into getting heat pad for the cage during the colder nights. I have found a few online but many have bad reviews. If any of you have any recommendations I would much appreciate it. :)

I use snugglesafe heat pads and I think quite a number of people on here do. They seem to do the job! The only negative thing I found is that the fleece covers they come with are quite thin and don't feel like they'd last very long if you wash them in the machine.

I looked into the snugglesafe heat pads and found reviews stating that they melted the covers and that they didn't last so I just wanted to see if there were persistent problems with them and if so if there was an alternative

I have used my snuggle safes for 2 years now and one was older than that as it was my mum's before she gave it to me. they still both have the original covers on them and I wash them every other week in the washing machine. I also ordered some replacement covers from a fleece shop on facebook. I have never had a problem with mine at all and I heat them up more than it says on the instructions. They also really do stay warm for 8 hours as I have felt them after this time and there was still some warmth left in them.
This is the only other brand I have found that isn't electric. Just found this one as well:

ive four snuggleheat pads and they are into there 3 rd year, ensure you only heat as the instructions say, heat pads covers have washed and lasted well.i would suggest you get a second cover ,so you have a spare in the wash.the heat remains for 10 hours, place under fleece or hay.i use mine for my piggies that are in the shed, they are wipeable, but the main thing is to not overheat the pad in the microwave,it comes with clear instruction of how long to heat depending on the power of your microwave, this will ensure the pad is safe.if you overheat there is a risk that the silicone gel in the pad melts the plastic, but it is avoided if you follow the instuctions to the letter.!:)

How many SnuggleSafe heat pads would be needed for 2 guinea pigs? Is 1 enough, or would they each need one?

Assuming your skinny pigs are indoors then I would HIGHLY recommend the Petnap Flexiguard aluminium heat pads. My indoor piggies have two of the medium sized pads (I have 4 pigs and although they could all squeeze onto one pad, I prefer to let them spread out a bit). The pads can be covered with a zipped fleecy cover but I then cover that with a disposable puppy pad so that I don't have to keep washing the fleece cover. The flex has a metal covering so it can't be chewed and the heat pad itself gives off a VERY gentle but constant heat. Mine are on 24/7 in winter as it gets quite cold in the conservatory at night with just one small radiator in there.

I don't like snugglesafe heat pads as they get VERY hot initially and only stay lukewarm for a few hours thereafter.
