Help with determining sex of babies

Hello,

One of our guinea pigs gave birth last week and the two babies are now 7 days old. We have tried to look to determine the sex of the babies, but looking for a second opinion!

Please see pictures 1 and 2. We are happy to take more photos in a couple of days if necessary as appreciate they aren’t the clearest.

Try to shine the light on the crucial area and please also post slit pictures. Ideally, I am looking at 3 different identifiers. I don't like playing guessing games.

Dark skinned babies are the worst. I think I have the right idea but I would prefer more confirmation.

Thank you very much for the second set of crisp pictures and the clear labelling. It's made my job very easy since both girls have clearly got a very nice female fleshy seal peeking out of the slit at the bottom of the genitalia.

Both babies can stay on safely with mum and any other bonded femalea or neutered boars.

Thank you for reviewing! On pig 1 we thought this was a boy as a little nodule appears when you peel the skin back so thought this was the penis? Appreciate the pictures may not be the best! The last two pictures try to display this.

Hi

If you think you have a penis, the best way is to feel for the presence or absence of a tiny penis shaft just above. Try mum first - she should be totally soft in that area so you have the corrective.

This picture shows you where to feel for a little basmati rice under the skin.


Sorry, my eyes seem to have also changed somewhat in recent weeks with what I am currently dealing with health-wise, which makes my eyesight even worse than normal. I will have to wait with new glasses until things stabilise again.

It's going to take a little while but I am going to get eventually better again; hopefully for a goodly time. In the meantime I am trying to have as normal a life again as quickly as I can make it. Thank you for your good wishes.
