I've just been cutting my piggies nails and cut too short on 2 :(. He is bleeding a little from them. He doesn't seem in any discomfort and ins walking round as normal but I'm worried. I've read that i should use a styptic pencil but I dont have anything like that. Would it be ok to just leave him?

You can use cornflour on pigs nails. Can someone confirm this as this is at the top of my head. mallethead

It should stop in its own if you haven't cut the nail too short.
It will probably be sore for the piggy so I suggest bathing it with cooled boiled water and popping on a little Salvon.

I've done this before and it's nothing to be frightened about. We used Talcum powder also. Something with cornstarch will work. I was always so nervous about doing something that bad but my vet reassured me to use the talcum powder and everything will be okay.

How is it?:)

As others have said its really nothing to worry about but it is good to stop the bleeding asap.

All the above options are good but I always find the quickest and easiest thing is ice held on the end of the claw for a few seconds.

Just keep an eye on the foot for a couple of days - any redness, swelling etc could mean it has got infected and so will need vet treatment but this is extremely unlikely.

Thanks. it seemed to stop bleeeding almost straight away, think i must have just nicked it. let him out this morning and he seemed fine, but will keep an eye on him.
Thanks for your help
