I have had theses 2 pigs since easter and the been living together great, but tonight 1 of them is running round like a wild animal having a go at my other pig trying to dig out of its hutch and generally seems to be like a wild bull. if it doesnt hurt the other pig its going to end up hurting its self. He is usually so tame

Any ideas ?

how old are they? could just be he is trying to set his self as the dominate pig. xx

they are around 6 1/2 months

they usually have a bit of rumble strutting and then settle down but not tonight

i didnt know wether to put them in seperate halves of cage for a while see if he settles

This is normal. Sometimes my pigs run like crazy people, especially around this age. You may find if you have 2 boys together they may also start to fight around this age due to hormones. Usually they will take down after a few goes. I keep a water spray bottle on hand and squirt them if they fight. Crazy running is part of guinea pigs. Look on the bright side he is getting his exercise.

Thanks LyndsayRDH.

They are friends again now. Thanks for the water spray idea it certainly calmed them down.

My boy is full of the joys of spring at the moment too! He's in with the girls, but even though he's been neutered it hasn't stopped him having a go ;) ;) I always had concerns that he and his brother would start to fight as they got older, but sadly Max died a few months ago. I kinda reckoned that the oldest female, Muffin, kept them in check. Hope your boys calm down once they've sorted out who the alpha-male is.

sorry to be a pain but i think this is something other than a dominance thing.

he will no longer let us touch him or pick him up he even nipped my partner.

he is running around in circles and squeaking a lot

he is eating and drinking.

could it be mites possibly nipping I'm and thats how he is reacting to the pain

i going get some gloves and check him over tomorrow but any advise would be welcomed.

Muffin was prone to skin mites for a while, but she was neither up nor down with them - just started to notice some bald patches. Perhaps you should take him for a check up with a vet, just to rule out any physical problem.
