help please mattress protector

I was wondering if this http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Pro...cat_37924427|Mattress+protectors|37924709.htm would be any good to use and then would I just cover than in fleece and put an absorbent layer underneath or...?
Sorry I'm just trying to reduce smell.

I think this is more of a plastic one, i may be wrong, but you need a cotton one for making cage liners, i tend to use the quilted ones just because they are more cosy for the guineas, i buy these from tesco ! 8

I just popped up to tesco and got one that is 100% cotton covering and then 100% polyester filling is that okay?
