Hi all! I’ve posted before about my two boys cheddar and Gouda! Everything has been going well! They eat together, and popcorn with one another. They are officially in a 2x5 c and c, and I even put up a pet cam just to make sure they are okay while I am away! Today while I was at school I got a notification of movement, I just thought it was the normal popcorning, but instead to my surprise it was a little squabble match. Of course new mom here, i was scared and came right home. It wasn’t like a piggie tornado, just like they lunged at eachother, with one retreating away! Should I be worried, or is it just social animal behaviour?

I’m not entirely sure but it seems like that is dominance behavior, mine did things like that when I first got them but they should stop after a while

Do you think you could record a video to show us (you would have to put it on YouTube to attach it here)?
Guinea pig experts will hopefully reply in the morning (it's currently midnight in the UK).

I’m afraid it’s not a situation we can make an assessment of without more information.

How long have you had them?
You say they are officially in a 2x5, so does that mean you have just changed their cage?
Changing their cage will cause a new round of reestablishing their bond which takes two weeks. During that time you will see additional dominance.
How old are they? Dominance increases as they become hormonal teenagers.

What we don’t know is whether it was just a bit of dominance or whether you actually witnessed an altercation.
