OMG! For the past hour Finlay has been trying frantically to mount Bertie from any angle possible! Bertie's really distressed and they have started to fight. What can I do? What's wrong with Finlay? where does the sudden change come from?

Please help....

we had to separate them for the night, ended up going to bed at 2.30.... Finlay spent he night in the travel box which we'd put inside the cage to start with but Finlay way still going crazy so we had to put him on the floor.
I woke up at 6.30 and put Finay back and it seems better although a bit tense but they are in the same house and eating...:...
It was frightening to see how possessed Finlay was and scared Bertie half to death. The icing on the cake was seeing Finlay's little pink thing... arrrgh!!:red:red

just seen clip, yep exactely like that... totally unrelentless...

Crikey! Ben didn't go that far! How old are they? Sounds like hormones to me. I found that if Ben gets a bit, erm, randy now, the best thing to do is to give them as much space as possible so I just chuck them both in the run which is about 3 times the size of their cage. Ben normally...sorts himself out and then things get back to normal. I'm sure it's much more distressing for us than them despite all the noise!rolleyes:{

well, Bertie is an old sick boy of 4 1/2 and Finlay is 6 months old on the 15th...

it was going on in the run too, but grass seemed to calm him down a bit. However it was dark and damp... not excatly practical.:(

Hmmm...sounds to me then that Finlay has a raging puberty thing going on and poor old Bertie just can't be bothered to argue! Finlay will either get over himself and revert to normality, or the pecking order between the two will change completely. Dave has tried to overule Ben a couple of times, but he didn't succeed! Hopefully Finlay will calm down more today. Be warned, the vid on the link is of the worst time it happened but Ben did chase Dave a couple more times, just less severely.:)

thanks.... it was just crazy last night and they would have fought till blood was drawn had we not separated them.
The pecking order was finely balanced before. Finlay is obviously top pig despite being younger but there were things that was sacred where Bertie would have his way - the houses and the food dishes were always Bertie's choice.

It looks that with Bertie's illness and Finlay striking the hormonal stage there will be some lively times. It's down to how well Bertie takes it or whether he'll fight back.

I am still traumatised by the sight of GP's willy @):{:red
I fear that the mounting is causing B some pain which is **** why he rebuked his pal's advances!rolleyes

Oh my... sounds like you're having a right time of it lately. I hope that things begin to sort themselves out soon. As for Finlay's, uh, advances, I know it's disturbing, and tell him that he's going to get a right good scolding if he keeps it up.

Hugs for all of you...

quick update from our boys. Well, Finlay's managed to keep it all zipped in since Sunday night meaning the 3 of us have had more sleep.... And Bertie has also perked up a bit, he's been eating and drinking solidly for 2 days and we've had some weight gain for the first time in 1 1/2 weeks, keep going lil man!

earlier, I was watching Bertie sleeping and his ears were flapping about. I guess he was dreaming. It was really funny to see....:))zzz

Yeap, I think Finlay had a hormone surge! Puberty hit. :))

Hopefully things are still calmer now. It will probably be a case that Finlay will realise that he can't quite manage what he has set out to do and with Bertie being older and a little under the weather, Bertie will be more acceptable to Finlay trying this.

If you had two like Finlay then it might be a different story. rolleyes

it's been calmer indeed although Finlay is quite an active and inquisitive piggy so we are on our guard... he's a;ways looking from under his quiff for something naughty to do... but so far not in a sexual way.

I am so glad to hear that Bertie is perking up again. It must be such a relief for you! And it is good to hear the boys are still getting on so well.

Finlay seems to have hit his puberty; he'll probably have the occasional testoterone overload. Hopefully not as bad as the first time. It can be a bit frightening when you see it for the first time, can't it? Thankfully, older guinea pigs seem to be fairly tolerant.

seeing IT totally traumatised me... It still sends shivers down my spine....:{

They're both fine now. Napping after literally devouring a carrot for lunch. Cute x:p

We've got three boys all hitting puberty at the moment. Lots of mounting, squeaking, chasing and chattering. We just leave them to it, they seem to settle down eventually. They are all incredibly cute though :)

Bertie and Finlay had started to fight ,though, on Sunday night and we can't afford for them to fall out as we have NO, repeat NO room for separate accommodation. Plus, with Bertie being a sick piggy, we didn't want him to stress more than he already was. :( But thanks otherwise. When he and he late friend Rene were at that stage, we did let nature do its magic work and they had the odd tiff, etc, but nothing major... Finlay was just like a possessed demonic sex crazed maniac and he didn't seem to mind which end he'd grab so long as he could have a go.... Poor Bert! In the morning, though, Finlay looked very confused and sorry for himself in his travel box and Bertie was very lonely too.... Reunions were very sweet!:a19:
