Hello,

Ive only had my piggies three weeks, and I have this cage for two of them, I dont think its big enough, but maybe I'm just being over cautious, my piggies get on fine, but they have little room to exercise, I thought about a two tier cage , but have read that there is no more space than a 100 cage as you loose floor space because of the ramp :(

I have been looking at cc cages, is it thier fleeces that go smelly when they wee and poo on them ?

I remove wet sawdust twice daily with my piggies, they dont smell much, but I would imagine after a couple of days unleft, it really would .

thanks guys iv gone for the ferplast 120 and iv made a giant run for them with the remainder cc cages so i will put them in that for a run everynight.

the cc cages were 2x4 and i had 2 of them so it would cost a fortune to fill them with megasorb. the correx is also really worn and shabby now so I'm trying something different, also i have to move house very soon and will be living somewere smaller so i wont have the space for the 2x4 cages.

I use megazorb (as fleece is disgusting IMHO)

I have a 16sq ft cage (3.5 x 3.5 grid) and I use 1/3 bag megazorb per week which is only £2.60 per week so I can manage that, I also use newspaper (free from OH dad), and some 100% wood cat litter pellets in their toilet corner.

Finacard might work out cheaper?

so do * use newspaper under megazorb bekki?

Yep, two layers everywhere, then 3 layers under their water bottles and in their wee wee corner :-) makes it easy to clean out too as you just roll up the paper and most of the megazorb is kept in the paper then just sweep/dust buster the remaining little bits.

I pay £8 for mine but I pick it up as the shop is literally 1 minute drive from where I work and near a petrol station .. so I fill up and get megazorb in one trip.

hello

we started out with a room like that for our two guinea pigs and we found that it wasnt big enough...so we built our own c&c cage with wardrobe blocks. we also have play pen that they play in during the day which they love...we found one at the pet store and it has a plastic sheet that you can attach at the bottom of it or over the top in the summer while its on the grass (although not secure enough to leave them outside unattended, so we built another one for that purpose) but during the day it gives them plenty of room to run around in and we put designated towels down instead of fleece (we find it absorbs more) then every other day we wash the lot and the smell is keet at bay.

you could also try to potty train your piggies...we have two that are really well trained and the three younger ones are still getting it.
This will save you time and money on bedding in the long run. In there cage that we built, we use carefresh odor control bedding but its expensive and takes one full (large) bag to cover the entire cage...but because they spend there day on towels and only sleep in their room, so we only have to clean it once a week. I will try to upload some photos soon to see if that helps.

As long as they have floor time to spread there legs, I'm sure they will be happy

lol i cant get the stuff locally
but i didnt think 2.00 was bad for postage either

it is sold at equisentials in billingham (on mill lane) for £8 a bag, its only 2-3 miles away from most of middlesbrough so will save you money if you drive :-)
