Hello!

I am currently working on upgrading a cage we have, so I can later adopt 2 guinea pigs myself! My boyfriend had a mama guinea pig a long time ago and got 2 (surprise from the pet shop... his 'male' pig was actually pregnant ) babies he raised them, our last guinea pig who was 7 years old sadly passed last year, and we are really missing little piggies in ouf life :)

My question is: I want to build a wood 2nd level to one corner of the cage that would be supported by 4 legs and have a ramp to access it, and i would build a coroplast floor on top and little walls. Do you think a 25 cm dept would be enough ? And i still want the under of the platform to be accessible, so what would be the minimum height? I would maybe attach a low hammock under it :) Here is a rough plan! What do you think?(the ramp would need to be less steep also i think!)

Thanks!

Hello! Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time here!

25cm should be fine as a width

25cm width is fine but it won’t fit any toys up stairs. The width of my upstairs is 36cm and it only just about fits a pigloo.

You can put a towel or something over part of the upstairs to make a little darker area that way perhaps.
