Hi there,

Just got an outdoor hutch for the boys, not sure how to rotate it sorry! Dog and little one inspecting it in this photo. We will put this on the grass and move it about and will only be putting the boys out when it's warmer weather. The wire mesh is stapled on the inside. Will this be secure in the day or do I need to replace this and make it more secure somehow? There is a ramp from the top to the bottom. It's a rabbit hutch and has a few wooden 'bars' across, do I just line with scrap carpet? Will it be big enough for the boys for the day? Their regular cage is a Ferplast 120.

Thanks

Do you have the measurements? :)

You can put carpet on the ramp to give them a little more 'grip'.

Other members also recommend ramp tunnels. I don't use one personally so I don't know!

Same as this

But from what I've read on here having a ramp make it minus some space as compared to a single tier

I high recommend Lining the bedding area with stick on Lino squares from pound shops I found this tip on her before I joined the GF and I can honestly say it's been a god send so easy to wipe out their hutch and it makes it last so much longer. I've not used carpet so I'm unsure about using it, fab idea about adding it to the stairs.
The wire should be strong enough as this looks like a brand new hutch so it's been made to withstand piggies/rabbits, saying that though keep an eye during cleaning that there is no damage to the wood or wire as it could harm your piggies.
I would have same kind of bed downstairs in the run so they can rest and so they have something soft to lay instead of just on the concrete (my boys run is attached to their hutch and it's on concrete so I've made houses out of cardboard boxes)
Also have you got a cover for the hutch? Or a large plastic sheet you can drape over it to use at night and when it's windy of raining :)
Hope that was of some help, and I hope your piggies love their new pad
Kell

Thanks Kell,

I'm going to put it on grass during the day and only have them out there when it's dry. Will move it daily to ensure the grass doesn't get damaged. Don't have a cover, but will look on ebay to see if I can get one the correct size. Will put them in their indoor cage at night/evenings before it gets chilly.

Thanks :)
