I was hoping to get some guinea pigsfor my birthday, I done loads of reasearch and i now know everything about them.
But I asked My Mum and she said she doesnt like the idea of them living outside In a hutch. (there really is nowhere they could go indoors)
Is there anything i can say to her to convince her that its okay? And help or advice would be amazing help.. Thankyou 8...

Hello, guineapigs are completley fine living outside, ive had piggies for years and years and they have mostly been outside and have all lived to a good age. Your mum has nothing to worry about :))

Thanks:)
Is there anything in particular i should mention about them living outside that is a positive Thing? She will be hard to convince so i need as much help as possible, buty thankyou for your answer:)

Do you have a shed or unused garage/outbuilding? Mine lived outdoors in a shed (with a hutch in the shed).

The only positive thing i can think of them living outdoors is the following:

1) If you have anyone in your house allegic to hay/ have hayfever it will benefit them as the piggies supplies are outdoors.
2) Smell? You wont smell them as much.
2) You wont hear them wheeking as much?

If you do keep them outdoors they will need protection (a hutch snuggle) from the wind and rain and in the winter warmth from the cold as the cold can kill guinea pigs. So you will need to think about extra costs for keeping your piggies warm and healthy.

Also another thing to consider please please make sure you have suitable locks on your hutches/shed against foxes/ predators as well as people and make sure the shed/hutch is in a safe place.

Some idiots tried to set alight my piggie shed the other week and i'd recommend any outdoor piggie owners to secure their piggie area.

Well tell her they will mostly be outside during the day anyway if you have a run, so they can eat grass and enjoy the sunshine :)) Make sure you get a cover for the hutch tho to sheild them from the wind, A blanket or something and put bricks on top of it to keep it in place then cover them up at night :)
