Hi,

I need to find a courier to transport my guinea pig from Suffolk to Killearn in Scotland! The company i was recommended can't do it. I know this is a long journey but i dont have any other option.

Any help you could give would be amazing! TIA x

That is a long way to move a piggy. Could i ask why the piggy is having to be moved from Suffolk to Scotland, are you rehoming it? I am not sure if i would trust a courier of any sort to transport a piggy that distance. We re-homed 2 piggies from Devon but we drove down and collected them ourselves.

Hi, I'm moving back home. I've roped a friend to drive me and my furniture home but there isn't enough room to safely transport my piggy too. I cant get the train because my friend doesn't want to drive alone. I thought about hiring a courier for my stuff instead, which is looking to be quite expensive so i wanted to see if people had any good experiences with pet transports first.

Could you not carry your piggy in a pet carrier on your lap. You would probably need to stop to top up hay, change pee pads, offer veggies etc. but I would still think this is a better option than a courier.

I used to take my goldfish home from uni in a bucket on the train every holiday... like a £1 B&Q black bucket with a handful of weed for him to hide under. That was a massive faff as there was also a rucksack and homework bag involved! If you can sit him on your lap in a carrier (not on the floor - he'll vibrate too much!) he'd be confused but he'd know you so he'd know he was being looked after wherever he ended up. He won't know what's happening with a courier - especially if he's a lone piggy and doesn't have a friend to huddle with. He'll be very frightened x

Couriers are expensive for anything over distance... it's possibly cheaper to hire a bigger van from a national company for your one-way journey?

I just used a carry ! When I moved my rabbit when in with dog and my guinea pig all in front cage on front seat and my little hamster was in a travel cage sitting next to guinea pig ! My just love all being together 20181114_131218.webp

You could use a small cat carrier and sit it in the foot well of the vehicle, place a pillow under the carrier so there’s no bumps, don’t trust a courier with a pet please x
