Currently using fleece and although it's not wet as such, the paper and towels under are drippin! Have to change it every day! Can anyone give me any alternative options please

I found this with fleece - the only way I got around it is to use a matress protector instead of towels. Then I have dry nites bed pads below the matress protector.

I have my boys in the living room, bottom layer foam squares (ones for outdoor camping etc), an old shower curtain, dry nites bed mats (currently £2.78 a pack of 7 in Tesco) and then a quite thick fleece.

Hope this helps. The shower curtain and bed mats are both things I've gotten from discussions on the forum, sharing is goooooood x

a really good thick layer of shavings then a good thick layer of hay on top works for me, keeps them bone dry , or try megazorb this is the most absorbant product but do put a good thick layer of hay on top .

I have puppy pads or newspaper and then 2 layers of fleece. Mine tend to only wee in their litter trays (or beds mallethead) though.

I use a chopped card product - Ecobed or finacard or sometimes megazorb. They then have plenty of soft hay and some fleece beds on top. I find two guinea pigs in my 4 or 5 foot cages can go a week on that if you spot clean, or put some extra bedding on any patches that get too damp and change any damp fleece beds in between.

With the chopped card I can bury their pellets around the cage and this encourages natural foraging behavior - very important for Marmaduke who tends towards the spherical. I also give them a deep litter pan with mixed hay and chopped card and mix a little coarse oats and some pellets in. It's the only time I see Prissie animated - except maybe when Guin tries the alpha female thing n the run.

My two old girls are very prone to urine scalding - particularly Guin. Stella's on furosemide that makes her a bit weeey. So the cardboard wicking away the moisture is very useful. I'd love to have those two on something softer, but it just doesn't work. I've tried everything and the cardboard and hay works best.

Fleece just did not work for me, though i am soon changing my set up so will give it another go. But in my 4 years of piggies i have always used a thick layer of newspaper, then a thick later of shavings, topped with loads of soft finely chopped russell bedding straw, i never have wet bedding and it always looks clean and nice.

I have cage liners from Cosy Cavies that have fleece-wadding-waterproof material-fleece. They work really well :)

Thanks everyone, i'll give some of those ideas a go. Our hutch is in my daughters room so i just can't have it stinky for the pigs sakes but also my daughters lol bless them! They just wee all over it's shockin lol

so from top to bottom it's fleece- mattress protector then bed pads, is that it? Going to try this today.

What we have found seems to work really well, especially in the caravan which we have tried this year as it keeps hay to a minimum for us hay fever sufferers.

A layer of newspaper, then vet bed and a layer of fleece on top. Fleece can be lifted (or brushed) daily for cleaning and changed every 2-3 days. Any wee seems to wick down to the paper which can be changed every 1-2 days.

been one of them crazy weeks with my a$$ of a husky pup so i'm just getting on with it still with the piggies lol they are on my list! Will sit later and look properly thank you xx
