I've got a ramp up to the loft of our c&c cage which is actually the wooden ramp which comes with a commercial two tier ferplast cage. I've got a ramp tunnel made by c and e cosies on the whole length of it which is great to stop the piggies from falling off the ramp.

As soon as I had built the c&c cage, I realised that there is a gap either side of the ramp tunnel at the top which the piggies could easily fall off.

I blocked this with extra pieces of correx (pic below) which I bulldog clip to the top of the tunnel and to the grid where I can but it doesn't really seem secure enough and poor Blossom has once managed to squeeze through the bottom somehow, got stuck for a short while and then fell down as she freed herself (thankfully no injuries).

Does anyone have any better ideas please to keep the piggies safe from falling?

Hi

You could move the ramp to the side and then double up grids on the hayloft front to fit like this

or I have seen someone using little wire mesh trays to fill in the gap like this one

Thanks - I remember now about doubling up grids - just have had a total brain block for the last few days! I might look for little wire trays though too.

It does indeed look like Snowflake, I can't sing its praises high enough, it has reduced the smell a hell of a lot in my animal shed. !)

Hi

Sorry, neither of these set ups in mine, both pictures are from the c&c members gallery. In the first picture it looks like the bedding might be Aubiose which is a hemp bedding. There are reviews on it on here at http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/review-aubiose.3477/
Thank you, my boys don't get on with wood shavings I have fleece in my hutch but not upstairs in the hallway I'm looking of something like this :) I will look into aubiose and snowflake :)

I use fleece in the main area but use megazorb or fitch for the hayloft and kitchen area. Highly recommend both but I know some members say they have had problems with megazorb being dusty of late, Ive not had a problem though. I order my megazorb from The Hay Experts online, and get my fitch through Amazon.

Thank you, does magazorb and fitch stick to the fleece? I was trying to fine pictures of the different beddings on here I think I will start a thread. :)

This is a good thread for a starter ...

I love fleece . I also use Aubiose bedding and Aubiose, hay and pet hairs all stick to the fleece. I keep a brush by their bin to make sure I have something to hand to brush off as much detritus as possible before putting their bedding in the washing machine. I also use a wash bag - as mentioned in the above thread.

I've got Fitch, Kell. I don't think it will stick to the fleece any more than hay does. Would you like a pic of it?

Its à highly absorbing small wood flake. Brilliant stuff. ;)

I have ordered my first bag of this based on your past posts, as I wanted something a bit more absorbent between my newspaper and hay layers - going to sandwich it between two layers of newspaper to stop it mixing with the top layer of hay and it will make rolling it up to bin easier too! so, cheers @BossHogg! :D and will cut down on the amount of newspapers I have to find - I never have time to read any!

Strictly come wheeking in that last picture, I must do this when I build my c&c! :))

I've let my girls investigate a couple of cuddly toys (white mouse with red swimming trunks on to be precise) and they pull his whiskers. I didn't let them loose on him again as he told me he was very upset! lol
Lol lol lol. Too funny. I thought you were gonna say they pulled his trunks off hahaha.
