Recently my guinea pig underwent surgery for a bladder stone, and was given a bandaid over the surgical site. Earlier today, he ate about the whole adhesive part of the band aid (both sides). Normally, I would just keep an eye out on his poop, but considering that the bandaid was specifically the tough strip variant (thick and tightly woven fabric), I am a little bit more worried. Does anyone have any experience with this matter?

Hi and welcome

Rodents don't have a vomit reflex so it has to all pass through the gut and come out at the other end.

Please keep a close eye out for the coming 1-2 days and contact the clinic asap if your piggy is suddenly looking of and off their food. Step in with feeding and watering support asap.

I would however strongly recommend to notify the clinic anyway. Band aids should not be used around guinea pigs because they are going to inevitably work them off. The glue is rather irresistible.

Keep a close eye on him. I’m sure he will be ok. 🤞🏻
