So recently I have noticed some flies around my cage, so I decided to start doing more weekly deep cleans, and then I realized that there was actually some poo stuck under my cage liner, so I took care of it and I found this little worms eating it, I’m really grossed out and really scared, because I don’t know what I would do with it was five strike, but the pigs both seem OK, and there was nothing in there liner just under it, what could it be? I don’t know how to send pictures, but they’re like half white half brown

Give the cage a deep clean. Are the piggies outside or inside?

If they're kept outside it may be a good idea to bring them inside so you can keep a closer eye on them. Give the cage a good clean. If you're worried a vet visit is never a bad idea.

They are inside, and I took out the canvas under my fleece liner and I am going to pressure wash it

I did my best to do a thorough check on them, but it’s pretty hard because they’re not very tame and I’ve been having trouble taming them, and they won’t let me pick them up

You will have to handle them and weigh them to do a thorough health check. Is there someone there who can help you.

I can’t add any advice beyond what has been given.
I would suggest a vet trip if you are at all concerned, just to be safe.
A pressure wash sounds like a good idea.
Do you have a pet safe disinfectant to use ( F10 in the UK) when you do the clean.

Hope your piggies are ok - keep us posted.

I’m not super concerned anymore, seeing as they were all under the fleece liner, but thank you guys for your help!

I already pressure washed the canvas and it’s drying right now, and now I think I’ll start doing fleece liner washes every three days

Hi!

Please deep clean your cage or hutch but be aware that this is NOT fly strike; ideally you clean your cage/hutch once, or even better twice weekly, especially any hutches during the warmer months of the year in order to stay on top of any vermin moving in.

There are some flies that lay their eggs into the flesh of living animals for the maggots to have a ready supply of food when they hatch. That is called fly strike. At risk are the neglected living in filth with open sores and the ill and elderly who are no longer agile enough to keep their bits cleaned themselves. Any healthy piggies are not targeted; if you have concerns, please give them a quick check for tiny reddish bumps around the genitals and don't put any piggies with open wounds/sores outside.
Here is more information on fly strike: Fly Strike

As @Wiebke says please dont panic, fly strike is where the flies lay eggs on the piggies themselves. You might do a super close check of the piggy bottoms, grease glands, and long haired piggies prone to matted fur, but healthy clean piggies should not be at risk. A thorough cage clean and disinfect should sort things out, and the F10 disinfectant range that is recommended for deep cleaning do actually make one that has a pet safe insecticide in, perhaps you could look at getting some of that? But only to clean the cage where the piggies wont be in contact too much. Hot washing the cage liners at 60 degrees should kill anything nasty off. Please dont worry too much, insects bring out the yuck factor but most are harmless to healthy piggies if dealt with promptly!
