So my oldest pig piggy smalls went to the vet Tuesday and was diagnosed with upper respiratory infection and sinus infection. The vet prescribed sofatrim and moloxacan but on day 4 of medication. Piggy's eye looks horrible and I'm not sure what this is. I have Google all types of eye problems in Guinea pigs in. This doesn't look like anything that I have seen someone. Please help it's the weekend so there are no vets open. Also? Our emergency vet doesn't have an exotic vet on-site that sees Guinea pigs. So piggy smalls is stuck until Monday. Yes. Do have ofloxin and terramycin which I started today but I'm so worried about my boy

I am sorry to hear your boy is unwell.

Just a few questions. Is he a skinny (hairless) piggy? How long is he on the medication for? And was his eye like this before? If not, what change have you noticed?

I cant advise you aside from taking him back to the vet re his eye. For now, you will need to switch to weighing him once daily in the morning. If he is losing weight then you will have to step in and give him top up feeds.

Those with more experience will be able to give you more advice when they see this thread.

Oh I’m so sorry piggy smalls is poorly. As you have no vets available near you I’d keep on with the medication and get him seen again as soon as you can. Antibiotics do take a few days to kick in but as this is a new symptom I’d get it checked out. Is he losing any weight?
