Good Evening All

I really need some help. I bought 3 guinea pigs last summer which quickly turned into 8. I have managed to rehome 2 of the babies and I have had our original boy neutered which is all good for him to return to his brothers/wives!

I am still looking for new homes for the three baby boars who are about 14 weeks old. But for reasons I am beginning to understand there aren't many takers. Tonight Coco and Fluffy have had a huge fight - these are cousins and not brothers and more Milkshake who is a bit daft is left shaking in the corner. Both Fluffy and I have been bitten badly (though it was Fluffy who bit me!)

We don't want to take to a rescue but they can't live together anymore. So far these guinea pigs with vets bills and extra cages have cost a fortune and we love them and they are the best pets ever but if I ask my husband for any more money for another cage he may well flip, so to cut a long story short does anyone in Merseyside/Cheshire have a cage they could let us have until we eventually rehome them.

Thank you and any other advice is welcome or an offer of a home for any of these little rogues ?/

Jerrybelly - Fluffy was out at 2.5 weeks due to some very questionable behavior towards his mother. He's a very butch piggy which is part of the problem. Don't worry we have had separate digs for girls and boys since then :)p

Boars are sexually mature from around 3 weeks old, which probably explains his amorous attentions! I'm pleased to hear that they have been separated :)

I don't know of any spare cages, I'm afraid, but I hope you find one soon.

I have 2 cages, you can have one or both.. PM me and I can drop them off at yours with some blankets, bowls etc. Just let me know what you need with them. One is 90cm/50cm - ok for 2 babies or one on its own if they are squabbling hard but they'll have to have a bigger cage when they are a few months old. It's a well used cage but I will have another go at it with some white vinegar!... and the other is a bit bigger and was given to me by the old owners of my foster pigs. has only been used for a week by a rabbit but I'll make sure to clean this up too.

Hiya is either of them Ok for two piggies? I think I am going to put Fluffy in with his dad and leave Coco and Milkshake together. I'm in Aigburth and I'm more than happy to come and get them from you. I'm working from home for the rest of the week. Let me know if either is ok for two - thank you x

Eep I can't PM you to give you my address! My mobile is 07704 691734.. text me and I will text you my details :)

I've just measured them both up (at the base) and am actually pretty surprised that they are quite similar! Neither I would say make for a decent adult sized cage for 2 :(

My old one is 84x47 cms ish and the newer one is 37x98 ish. They are both acceptable for temporary emergency use but I wouldnt want to keep them in there more than a couple of months at most. In my ignorance I kept my two girls from babies in the old one for about 3 years and they were still very bouncy and explorative, though if they had the space then that that do now I'm sure they would have been happier.. but you will have boys who need more space comparatively. Also if you do change cage sizes after too long you might expect a little rumble strutting to happen because its a new terratorial size.

I got you a couple of little towels, some newspaper and a few furnishings and some treats just incase.. Dont worry if you dont need these, my guineas will make good use of them! I will be in on Friday, I will be able to clean the cages up then and you can pick on the day which one you want to take (or both if you prefer). If you decide you are better off with bigger cages dont worry I wont be disappointed. But these will be pretty useful if you are in a fix. The older one collapses as well which makes it better for storage. Hope to hear from you soon and the little ones are good! x

Do you think if I posted on TGPF there would be someone who could give me a spare house with a garden so I could have your piggies? :))

Take some more photos and put up a new thread in rescue and rehoming, I can't believe noone want these boys, they're absolutely gorgeous. It sounds like a good idea trying Fluffy with his dad and leaving the other two together. Good luck with finding them homes. :)

Hermes - duhh why didn't I think of that mallethead I think I would ask for a new home somewhere warmer than Liverpool though!

I am going to put them on in a couple of weeks I want to make sure Fluffy is OK first :):)
