if so, how do you keep things neat?

My second level is just for hay and it's been doing a nice job of keeping hay off the lower level fleece. Downside is, tho, that piggies sit right at the top of the ramp and pee and poop there constantly. The hay is pushed back pretty far from the ramp so it's actually kind of an odd spot. But no matter how much absorbent material I put on the loft area, it gets soaked quickly and pee actually rolls down and collects at the bottom of the ramp! And I keep an extra pad at the bottom which is the only place that's ever wet on the lower level. This is true even when I change everything in the loft daily.

Right now I have a thick cotton terry hand towel folded, so it's doubled right at the top with a double layer of microfiber towel on top of that, with the rest of the loft covered just w a double layer of microfiber. Fleece on top of all that.

I just ordered some puppy pads and I'm hoping they will save the day. I'm gonna start w just fleece on top but afraid I'll end up having to continue w a ton of layers.

I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this and what has worked. Id really like to not have to take the ramp out to clean it every day.

Alternatively, is there any way to convince them to pee a few inches farther into the loft? Right now it's just hay up there, but maybe I should start also giving them their pellets and veggies up there, in the far corner.

Btw, I only have two girlies!

Sorry, I have visions of your Guinea Pigs creating their own little water feature !

Puppy pads are great . Are you based in the UK ? There are some discount shops that sell puppy pads quite cheaply in the UK. I get mine from B&M. I think you'll find putting a puppy pad covered with a piece of fleece or microfiber will do the trick.

Gosh, I hope so! Thst would be great!

I'm in the U.S. I think I got a pretty good price on Amazon, 20 dollars for 120 pads that are 23 x 17, so I think if I cut it, I should be able to cover the 27 x 13 loft with one pad.

Now they sound like typical piggies, I find that piggies will poop where they eat, often finding a particular spot and rarely moving from it. So with your hay loft, they are munching on hay and...well...being lazy, and peeing there. However creating a low wall and putting the hay behind the wall, so they go up the ramp, have to go through the extra 'security' door, and then they will either munch and pee with the hay or...something else. How about putting some of their favourite hay elsewhere, hanging and it may train them to pee there?
