This was a very sudden issue-- my guinea pig, named Toast, is very young. He is a few months old, and he is quite small-- being a runt and all.

He was completely fine today! He was doing everything that he usually does, like chasing around Cinnamon and hopping on top of his little home to look around. It was all normal until about an hour or two ago, he has been sitting in the corner. He isn't moving from the corner, eating, or even drinking. When moved, he runs back to the corner and continues to sit there.

When picked up, he struggles greatly so I put him down. There is no crust in his eyes, and he doesn't make squeaks of pain. He purrs when we pet him. But, when I was holding him, I noticed that a clear discharge was coming out of his bottom. It's almost like snot. What is this? Is this something I need to worry about? I just recently had to take two guinea pigs to the vet, so I have felt that financially. He's the third one out of my four guinea pigs to have an issue, and I'm really worried.

Thank you.

I’m afraid it wouldn’t be possible for us to know what it is as we aren’t vets but also as we cannot see your guinea pig.

Please do have any concerns checked by a vet, particularly as he also seems to have a change in behaviour.
Please switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh him daily and step in with syringe feeding if he isn’t eating and loses weight.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you can get your piggy seen by a vet. Keep us posted. Good luck.

I'm afraid it sounds like a vet visit. The snot-like discharge is not a normal thing, and his behaviour of running back to the corner and sitting there has already told you he's not feeling right. Move some hay and water next to where he's sitting to see if he's tempted - but call the vet. So sorry x

Mucous is generally a sign there is disruption in digestion, very serious in guinea pigs and in issues like bloat or stasis which many other issues can quickly end up causing, can be fatal. I would have him seen by a vet as soon as possible. Try to get fluid and food into him little and often using the force feeding guide on the forum while you wait for his appointment. Good luck!
