My guinea pig, S'more, lives alone outside in a hutch, my parents say I can't have him live inside so could I ask them for another guinea pig? My cage is fairly large and has two floors and lots of space to run nd popcorn plus, next fall, I have to move my cage further out onto the garden to that I can expand my cage and add a run onto it so there's TONS of space! :)

But the problem is, he's a boar, could I introduce another boar in a special way or will I have to neuter him and get a sow. I've always wanted another guinea pig ever since I was getting him, I even told my mom about how I can' introduce another boar but she said I have to wait to gt another one >.< But today when I went to the store to get hay, I saw the CUTEST abyssinian guinea pigs in the world and that's when I thought I HAD to get another piggie! Please help, I will study at every free time I have, at school during reccess! I know guinea pigs live a longer life span with a partner so PLEASE HELP!:0

Hello. Well the quick answer is yes as guinea pigs like company and shouldn't really live alone. There are some very knowledgable members on here that can advise you how to go about this as you could neuter your boar and pair him with a sow or try and bond him with another boar! Your piggy would really love to have company :-)

Also not sure where in the world you are but in the UK there are lots of piggie needing homes that are currently being looked after by rescues rather than buying from a store where you wouldn't know how healthy the piggies are.

Rescues will help you bond another piggy with your boy so he'll have a little playmate.
Look for a reputable one near to you and contact them to see if they have any boars looking for their chance of a loving home and little friend for company :)
Good luck and keep us posted on things :)p

Several of the reputable rescues offer boar dating, where S'more would be able to choose his own friend - this can be another male instead of S'more having to be neutered. This is the best way as he will find someone he can live with happily. Which area do you live in and we can tell you which is nearest.

You need to make sure your hutch is big enough and measure it to make sure - the minimum size is 120cm x 60cm x 45cm.

Where are you located? here in Britain good guinea pig rescues will bond boars single boars of any age with a character compatible mate ("boar dating") for you.
Here is our list of recommendable British guinea pig rescues, most of who offer boar dating. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=209994852075231951564.0004b8fd9391b4257d8eb&msa=0
For the US or Canada, this link is a beginning; otherwise you can use petfinder to look up more rescues and shelters near you: http://www.guinealynx.info/rescues.html

If you are living in another country, unless you can find a rescue that will allow you to bring your boar, your best bet is a baby boar - but there is always a certain risk that they won't get along anymore once the baby hits the hormonal months. Please be aware that two boars need quite some space. The minimum RSPCA (animal league) recommendation is 2x4 ft, but we think that 2x5 ft for two boars is better. the more space they the more stable their relationship!
