I'm new here so I'm sorry if I've done this wrong but I need some help..

I have 2 boars at the moment that live separately in a hutch due to bullying, I've adopted my cousins boar today. He was described as a loving guinea pig who had previously had a cage buddy. But today when I introduced him to my guinea pigs they don't appear to get on.

I have tried to introduce him to both of mine separately but with Winston (the timid one) he just humps him and climbs on top of him all the time

And with Jeremy (the out going one) they seem to show aggression.

Will this pass or is there no chance they will get on?

Welcome to the forum. Your post would have been better in the behaviour section -but I am sure a moderator can move it. I assume from what you are saying, you now have 3 boars ?

Hi and welcome. I'll leave the indepth advice on this to someone else but I just want to reassure you that the humping is normal. One is trying to establish his dominance over the other. If the other acts submissive it should settle and they should bond. However I think you're best off talking with someone who has experience of pairing up boars. Give me a moment and I'll find a useful link for you. There's a really great thread on boar bonding :)

Hi :wel:to the forum..

We will move your post to the Behaviour & Bonding Section..

In the meantime can you please add your location to your profile as it helps fellow members give any answers to questions you may have that may be area/country specific. This can be done by clicking on your username, then personal details, then add location......

Have a read at this thread, https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/boars-bullying-fighting-fall-outs-and-what-next.127295/ Boar trios unfortunately seldom work..

Hi and welcome!

How old are the boars in question?
Here are tips on how to introduce them; please read them carefully.

Humping and other dominance behaviour is part and parcel of boar introductions; you only have to separate if the humping is truly incessant so the other boy can't get any rest or eat without being bothered or if he gets enough and there is a scuffle.

We've just tried a bonding bath with the new boar and the timid one, apart from a mini heart attack when white liquid came out their eyes (which I've since found out is normal) all seems fine. They are both now roaming around the play pen eating hay and lettuce without any problems. Hope this is the start of a beautiful friendship!
