So is there any Colorado members on here? Also is there any known places that donate cages or what not for Guinea pigs...... I recently got back home I was out of town in another city and came home to my babies (Guinea pigs) I had a care provider for all my pets while I was away thinking I could trust them well my other pets were fed and cleaned but my guineas were some what fed the lil skinnier when I left and I came to their cages dirty uncleaned and since cleaning I realized one of the cages has mold from all the poopy n pee..... need a new cage for them I'm scared to even clean the mold out very well to put them back in after its clean. I'm allergic to mold but I will clean n risk for my babies unless can get a new cage or should they be fine if clean really well

I’m not in Colorado but I don’t know that there is anywhere that would donate a cage. Are you able to look on somewhere like freecycle or gumtree etc? Are you not able to buy a new cage for them? You could set up a play pen for them in the meantime if you don’t.

Otherwise try soaking the cage with vinegar, some washing up liquid and a little hot water. Maybe that could shift it. You could also try using F10, it’s piggy safe.

C&C cages are pretty great because they don’t allow for mold—it’s just plastic and metal, after all!

You can make it by yourself, but if you don’t feel confident this site sells materials/kits so everything is the perfect size when it comes. They even do themes! However, they have slowed down a bit in the outbreak, so it may take a bit for the supplies to reach you.

Otherwise, there are some cages out there like the Amazon Basics Jumbo or Midwest Guinea Pig Habitat. Pretty much anything that’s over 4x2’ (5x2’ preferred for sows, 6x2’ for boars) could work. You might be able to find them off Craigslist for cheaper.
