Ok, I'm new to all this gp stuff, this is my setup:
Have 2 baby gp's 10 wks old, they have an indoor cage that is ok in size but having seen how much they enjoy the outdoor run and hutch would like to add an indoor run to the indoor cage. I've ordered a bridge for them to be able to get out and into the run, just deciding what to put on the carpet to protect it, what would people recommend? Going to make a run out of cubes so that it's easy to collapse and put away as they are currently in my daughters bedroom and she will need her floor space back when she's home from school? I've read about 'fleeces', would they be a good idea? Can you put gp's out in a run in the winter? obviously if it's not wet, too cold, or frosty! Sorry for the ramble :x

what I would do is lay down some towels then some fleece, the fleece will wick the pee down and the towels will catch the pee. hope this helps.

you could put down some plastic sheeting or binbag first to protect your carpet/flooring, then as above towels under the fleece, that way the pee gets soaked up but theres no risk of it getting into your carpets.....(if it got to the floorboards the smell is a bugger to get out!)

I use tarpaulin covered with towel then fleece when i have piggies indoors in a C & C. You could use tarpaulin or an offcut of lino for the floor of a run with towel/fleece/newspaper covering it.

I personally wouldn't put piggies out in the run in winter; the temperature difference from living indoors to suddenly going outdoors & then back in again is what "can" cause them to fall ill :)

Thanks everyone. I'm off to see if I can buy an offcut piece of lino and a fleece from Primark.

Yes, bought a couple of fleeces from Primark £2.00 each! Set the run up for them in my daughters bedroom with towels underneath fleece and newspaper in the corners (they tend to only wee in the corners) and they absolutely loved it! Ran about like crazy for about 30 minutes, flying in and out of the indoor house into the run and back, popcorning and squeeking! Makes the effort of setting everything up worthwhile.

Today I've set it up for them again and they've hardy moved! They seem to do this, they have an active day and then a lazy one!
