thats showing off and posturing really... the nipping is just dominance give them a week or two and it should calm down... my girls still do it every now and then...
just when you put them out give them 2 sets of hay and a hidey house for the one thats being chaced...
if this carries on for longer than a couple of weeks.... or theres a fight where blood has been drawn then they will have to be seperated maybe not permenetly... but sometimes they just dont like each other i have on piggie that goes for one of my others all the time... she hates the sight of her...
are these boys or girls...?

sounds like there trying to sort it out between them...
my girls were like that and i never managed to get them to sort it out to be fair..

if youve got maybe a more placid girl to try with him...?
they might get on better if youve got an obviously submissive piggie becuase boys are very head strong... :)

thanks i shall wait and see how they continue whilst i clean them out.

thank you for your advice i'm not sure they will get on long term and he deserves a nice friend as he only has one eye and is rather small.

Hmm. In my opinion, and this is only mine hun so not gospel, she is looking to be too dominant for him.

She is the one instigating all the tiffs - he's just trying to get out the way bless him. I have to say when I bonded mine I never had the female acting this way - Cherry just allowed herself to be humped and humped til she told Dodge to leg it, he said ah ok I'm tired now, and they went to sleep together. The other lot just kinda said 'oh hi, nice to meet you, carrot?' not even any humping!

If it were me, personally, I would first of all chuck loads more in there to occupy them - I used two kids stools and a wooden arch with mine, loads of piles of hay, two foods bowls, and bits of veg all over the place. If there is more than just themselves to focus on this helps.

I would also disregard what age they are and pick your most calm girl, as this lady looks quite dominant and littly (sorry forgotten his name!) seems very 'oh crap Mum help!'

But as I say this is just me, I am not the expert, just going on what I have experienced

Good luck x

Not a chance, I wouldn't put up with that behaviour. I know some people say let them sort it out, but if you can try another pig I would.

I have did 4 boy/girl pairings, and the only one that I have seen that kind of behaviour is the failed pairing. My pigs have never chattered or chased during an introduction, except the failed pairing. They ended up in Balls of Fury!

Fred followed the girls to get to there bum, but that wasn't aggressive or dominant. Pebbles and Patrick were grooming in introduction, Milo and Esme just played there was no dominance behaviour.

Granted I do think they could live together, but it's not a match made in heaven. They may 'live' together I would argue if it was happily.

thank you they are still in the bathroom all teeth chattering has stopped but they are opposite ends of the bathroom and pretty much ignoring each other. whic is fine but not how i want them to live.

ok i'm impatient.

tried nelson and toffee. there was some bum sniffing from both lots of eating and following, no teeth chatering a bit of bum wiggling and rumbling from him. but when i accidently scared them they ran to each other :)

so here they are now living together

so glad he has a friend now. Just hope she doesnt miss the others too much

and back to square one :( this morning they were fine eating breakfast then 5 minutes before i have to go out they start teeth chattering at each other! i go out and when i come back there are tufts of fur in the cage. no blood though and they are at opposite ends of the cage. i watch when one goes near the other teeth chattering and the launch at each other :( so toffee is now back with the group and I'm trying cookie.

this is going well so far he has humped her head and side and sniffed bums. he has also been grooming her and she let him. sharing the hay tray and following each other. but now they are back in the pen togetehr they both seem to want to join the other piggies.

so i have a question. do you think making the pen bigger and trying him with 2 girls instead of 1 so they have a friend still.

split them so i have 2 groups of 4?

or open it all up and see what happens with 8?

or try nelson with a completly new piggy that i dont have yet?

advice please? thanks

and i thought bonding boys and girls was easier.

If your groups already work well I would take him to a rescue for his very own friend. Guess it depends on the pig! xx

that was an idea of OH but i dont really want any more(well i do but money and space is kind of an issue). although i will if nothing else works. thanks :)
