and I have no idea what to do!

OK...calm down. You just spent £80 on a 5 x 2 grid cage for the girlies...

Gulp! I don't know where it's going to go. I don't know where it's going to fit. I don't even know if puppy pads and Aubiose is suitable for C & C cages!

I did it because I wanted to give my piggies more room during the day when I'm in work. I have only had the Slyline Maxi 6 or 7 weeks, but although the piggies come out in their run whenever I am home, sometimes I work 12 hour shifts. The current cage is fine, but I want more room for them to zoom in...

So why am I in a tizz? I don't want to get more stuff like fleece, as I don't think my washing machine could cope with the extra work on top of what I already wash in a week. Would puppy pads and Aubiose work? I could use a liner underneath if bits fall out between the edges of the base.
Will I need extra grids and connectors in case they break? How strong are these cages?!

Oh dear :(

And breathe......! They really are worth the time and effort:nod:. Get a tape measure out and establish where it is going to go. Handy hint - to make the round plastic connectors easier to push onto the grids pop them into some hand-hot water to make them more pliable. Once you have had a few practices at putting one grid next to another you will get the hang of it. There is no harm in experimenting with different bedding, lots of forum members swear by Aubiose! I use fleece just because I always have. The cages will stand quite a lot of wear and tear, new sheets of correx are available but I have had mine quite a few years and despite a few stains and tiny nibble marks it is doing great. It comes in and out of the attic as my foster piggies come and go, so takes a fair bit of bashing. Good luck, just think how happy your piggies are going to be:D

Thank you AuntyC...I only have a tiny bungalow and the back room is now the animal room, housing the hamster's Zoozone2 and the piggies cage.

I haven't seen many pics of C & C cages without fleece...but there is no way that I could use fleece due to the washing. Yes, I am excited...and I know that the girls will be as well. Now I can put in all of their toys...and I might need to get more to fill the space!

Are the C & C cages that much bigger than 120 cages? Where is that comparison chart I remember seeing...

We have a C and C cage and use newspaper and wood shavings.

Your piggies are going to love their new home!

Congrats on your new c&c purchase :D don't panic there is always somewhere you can fit a cage in I have become an expert at it lol. If your using puppy pads and auboise then you will definately need the correx did it come with your cage? I only have one c&c with correx and the rest are on a shower curtain but all of mine are on fleece, although when I go on my hols I will use puppy pads and a thick layer of Fitch so my sister can cope better :) c&c cages are bigger than a ferplast 120 cage here's a couple of pics of my 2x4 c&c and the ferplast 120.

I'm sure they will be fine, I only use puppy pads in my cage and a tarpaulin under them (it's a puppy pen so no base!).

I use Aubiose with puppy pads, with 6x2 cc cage, ive three boars in there and it works well, stops any smells and copes with wee well.i have also finacard, cardboard bedding which works very well, less messy than Aubiose, use puppy pads under finacard, use megasorb where the water bottles leak.i use puupy pads like most use newspaper.i use fleece liner on top stacking 6x2 cc cage as i can reach well to clean.good luck with your choice of bedding.:)

And what we did prior to the arrival of ours is mark out possible positions and layouts on the floor using small orange dots.

Get a tape measure and play around a bit, until you work out where it will fit nicely and work best for you.
If it seems a bit big to start build it as a 4 x 2, or make it into an L shape - they really are incredibly flexible.

If you have the correx insert it will work just fine with Auboise and puppy pads.

When it arrives don't feel like you have to build it immediately.
Get the pieces out, look at it, play with the connectors, so you get a feel for how it will all work.
When you do decide to build it give yourself lots of time and space.
I know some people say it clicks together like a dream, but in all honesty it took me a while to get everything clicked and cable tied together and the correx sorted, etc. I started mid afternoon on a hot day with 5 kids 'helping'.
In hindsight I would have waited until I had a bit more time and a lot less kids!

But you will seriously LOVE it and your piggies will be so happy.

This is fab news. Thank you everyone!

I have the Correx coming as well, although I did not expect to pay £80 for everything, including a red Correx base. I didn't want a loft as my girls are going through another dominant phase but they are 16 weeks old so I'm not sure if the hormones have started to kick in.

I will continue to use the Aubiose, but puppy pads on their own would work too. (Like what I do in the playpen). I have an old waterproof mattress protector that I no longer use and I might put that under the puppy pads to help with the cleaning out.

I think that I might be buying more toys to fill the new cage. I don't think that I am having it for two weeks, according to dispatch dates on the C & C website, so I have plenty of time to plan.

We have an old dining table in the back room, and the new cage will be overlapping it. I will be purchasing wood for the cage to rest on, providing a solid base.
