Heaving, whole body going back and forth, she looked like she was going to be sick

Ella just gave me a small heart attack. She suddenly started heaving, her whole body going back and forth, she looked like she was going to be sick but we all no guinea pigs can’t be sick. She gave a little ‘huff’ and is now back to normal. Anyone know what happened? Anyone ever witnessed this with their guinea pigs?

It sounds like a heaving hiccup to me. They are rare and usually one offs but they are harmless.

Several of mine have done it, Red does it quite often, I think it's when they eat too fast. I've seen it called heaving hiccups. I'm glad she is okay now.

Thank you. I’ve heard of heaving hiccups but I’ve never really witnessed them
 
My boy did this a couple days ago (Lurching, dry heaving), I was aware of piggies lurching before as I had a pig a while ago who did it a couple times, but it stills scares me every time (it doesn't happen often, just when it does)

Glad Ella is fine, they do love to keep us on edge.

Thank you. I’ve just read your thread and that’s what Ella did. It’s worrying to witness. She’s fine now
 
I saw my baby Yin do this while she was eating and I stared in horror not sure if she was choking or something. She’s fine now, but this thread gave me so much peace 😌😌😌
