Hi everyone,

What are you all doing to help keep indoor piggies cool during the heatwave?

We currently have a fan which is on all the time, rotating (but not blowing directly on the pigs obviously), the blinds are down and we have frozen water bottles covered in old socks for them to lay next to...which only 2 of them will go near! Of course there is ample cool fresh drinking water and veggies washed in cool water.

Do you have any other tips or suggestions? Want to make sure I'm doing all I can to keep them cool, safe and happy.

Thank you :)

Hi

Here is our very comprehensive hot weather information guide with all possible tips and measures; a lot of them are small ones that in combination can make quite a difference outside of electricity devouring air con, as well as information on the most common potentially fatal mistakes and about how to spot and what to do in case of overheating:
Hot Weather Management, Heat Strokes and Fly Strike

You may also find our already running hot weather discussion and feedback/experience exchange thread in the Guinea Pig Chat section interesting: Hot weather warning for the UK - plan now to keep your piggies safe!
