Hey everyone,

I have tried to look about for an answer to make sure that heating my pigs shed is safe but I would like some re-assurance and to hear from people who actually heat where they keep the pigs.

From what I can tell using an oiled filled heater (with a cut of point to stop over heating) should keep them warm enough and be safe. I am terrified of it causing a fire and I would never forgive myself! But i want to be able to keep them warm when it get's really cold for the few months.

Has any body used an oil filled heater for their pigs (or any other kind for that matter), I was planning on getting a small one from my local argos.

Any comments will be welcome!

Thank you :)

l beleve the oil filled get the best all round revieves

I used an oil filled radiator last winter and was fine and will be using it again this year. In previous years they have been in the house x

oil filed radiatos are used and trusted by houing authorities as emergancy replacments !

My guinea pigs are in a 2 tier hutch in a shed . I wouldn't be without my oil filled radiator in the winter. I only have it on low .

I also have 2 greenhouse heaters fitted inside the hutch. They are well out of reach of the guineas - so are perfectly safe .

You can see one of them in this picture ...

I have an oil filled radiator on in the house to ensure that the house is always at the right temperature day & night. I cannot have my central heating on at night cause I wake up with a dry, sore throat but never a problem with my plug in radiator. Best thing ever.

Thanks everyone. :) oiled filled it will be. Put my mind at rest :) I can't wait to get it them. They'll be so snuggly! :)

I've been running the same oil filled radiator in my piggy shed for 4 years now with no problems, it's covered with dust from the shavings and cat hairs from mog sleeping almost on top of it with no problems at all. :tu:
