So, my four Guinea pigs are in my shed, and next week we have a heat wave coming along with temps around 25-28C. To prep for this tomorrow, tonight I have put in large ice bottles in the freezer, made blueberry and grape ice lollies, stocked up in extra water bottles. They are in a shed! But I can keep the door open as I have a mesh panel, and I’m going to put our parasol to cover the shed so it shades. The annoying thing is our shed don’t have windows! Is there anything else I can do?

I have also put a couple of tea towels in the freezer too.

Any tips welcome! Will they be ok? So worried!

Can you put a fan in there to get some air movement?
We all worry when the temperature risers. I'm sure your be OK you sound like a very sensible piggie slave.

Nope I have no electric source in there :( I have two long haired guinea pigs, and I have cut their hair short today! (Much to their disgust and embarrassment!) I’m just worried as I am out at work from 6am until 5pm!

Do you have an extension cord you can use to plug from your house? That's one thing to get an electric source.

the ice bottles and lolly’s sound good. take out any plastic hide houses as these quickly turn into ovens during warm weather. a tip i use is to leave a shallow dish of water in their enclosure and put some watery veg- pepper, cucumbers- in it to float. is there anyone who could check on your piggies while you are at work ?

No normally my mum would be able to come round and check in them but she’s on holiday :( I’m debating bringing them inside but it would mean going from a spacious shed to small cage for two sets of pigs! X4 altogether x2 in each cage x

bringing them inside wouldn’t be a bad idea, maybe if you brought them inside before work and brought them back out after? the hottest time of day is afternoon so that would work i guess?

Going into a smaller space for a short period of time won't to them any harm and obviously if it is cooler it would be better for them.
