Heat Pads

I'm thinking about getting a couple aswell, I've seen them on ebay.

I know a lot of people use them for their piggies. I use them in my little semi feral cats outdoor kennel, she won't come in the house, and I like to think of her being warm at night. During the worst of the winter, she had them re-heated 3 times a day.

That's a good price too - I paid more for mine.

I'm looking to get them for Autumn onwards, have had to move my gang outside and have been stressing about them being chilly. They will be moved into a shed when the cold weather comes and was considering getting a plug in radiator, but was wondering if they are heated up regularly if they would be enough?

I use them as I have to keep my pigs in the shed over winter and they love to sit on them and snuggle up with them

Home bargains do small water bottles with a knitted cover...really lovely £2.50

hey there... :)
thats a good idea...
my friend also uses a green house heater in her shed...(lower fire risk than a normal space heater...)
aswell as quilts over the top of the hutch covering 3 sides... so ones still exposed... :)
good luck...!

I think these are particularly good as they stay warm for several hours. Hot water bottles lose their heat quickly (and if they leaked, the hot water could be dangerous). For my cat I have two, and in the winter she'd have one heated around 9 a.m., then the next one about 3 pm, and the last one at midnight. Very often they were still warm when I took them out. And of course, they're just the right size for a guinea pig to sit on. And on the cold winter days and nights, plenty of hay would also make for extra warmth - they love to nestle down in it.

Loving both those ideas, feeling all happy now! Pads, greenhouse heater and quilts.....theyre gonna be warmer than me :)

The pads seem to stay warmer if they are inside something that is quilted, they cool down quickly if left out in the open so to speak. I put them in for my guineas inside a pigloo under the cushion, they still feel aired the next morning. Mine are indoor guineas too, by the way.rolleyes

I bought two of these from this site, well worth the money :))
They are a god send in the colder weather (my piggies live indoors) and just popped them their pens before leaving for work in the mornings.
They like them so much that even during the warmer months, still sit on them mallethead. The covers wash and tumble dry really well so I give them a thumbs up :(|)

I sell fleece covers for snugglesafes if anyone is interested. A snugglesafe will also fit inside my single piggy beds.

See my website for more information: www.cavycozies.com

May need some of those, as our pigs are simply minging and pee all over them, and the covers don't dry fast enough in winter to put them back on at night!

Thanks, doeylicious! I am thinking about offering two snugglesafe covers plus a bed at a special price as I think they would be really useful for people to use in hutches in the winter.

Definitely, as a hutch user, although mine are in a lean to/conservatory, I am always looking for extra things to keep them warm.

I used to use snugglesafes but they became cold too fast. So I bought plug in heaters made for animals in particular rabbits and guinea pigs. K&H puts them out. Here is a link:

Seriously these are awesome and safe. I've been using them all winter. I put one in each enclosed area of my piggies cage. I have two cages so I have one in each. I hope that made sense! :))

Hi

I got a snuggle safe heat pad from my local pet store and I am really impressed with it.

My two boys live outside and if it is a bit chilly at night I put this in for them (I always bring them in when it gets too cold over winter).

I bought them a fleece snuggle oo from cosy cavies which has a pocket underneath to put the heat pad in and they love it!

i've just ordered a heat pad for my boy rufus, as he's getting neutered soon and hopefully it will be a bit of a comfort for him, this website has them for £15 (with the cover) and free delivery, which is definitely the best i've found after trawling the internet!

going to order a cover or two from cavycozies while i'm on! :(|)

I just bought a snugglesafe also for those really cold nights (my house is badly isolated). Just tested it on my lap and piggy totally relaxed on it, even did lay her head down and stretched out so far she nearly fell over! Think she likes it :)

Can't recommend them enough, only thing is if you have a few piggies/out door animals the warming up can take a fair bit of time!

I had one in each cage for my rabbits last year but thinking of getting the rabbits one each and then three or so for the guineas so they have warm spots in their hutches. The link you posted with the 5 for however much works out as good value so thanks for that!

These are the cheapest, think Flintstones pointed me in this direction a while back.

I ordered and received three more last week, the covers are a minky brown with black paws prints not as shown in the pic, identical to the two I bought last year for almost £40 mallethead :(|)
Packed really well in a strong box stuffed with shredded paper - the piggies had a ball playing and hiding in it, ignored the pads :(

Snugglesaves are wonderfull, they stay warm for 12 hours after heated. Great for cold winter days/nights and when a guinea pig is ill (but not so ill it doesn't respond).

The other end of it is an Ice Pod, which indeed are cold and great to prevent overheating in the summers.

Yeah I got both and I'm very pleased with them, I would however recommend to never use them without a cover, and never on ill pigs that respond badly or just been under surgery.
