Heat pads

Hi I have 3 heat pads for my pigs I was putting them in when it got too 12 degrees outside but I got a temperature gauge that still said 15 in their shed. I was told using them now then in the winter they wouldn’t be as effective. When is a good degrees to use the heat pads? I know my 2 new babies loves them

15 is good for the shed, if you are unsure then boxes filled with hay and they will burrow if cold.
Temp wise, my rule of thumb, if I’m cold they will be cold.

I generally use the heatpads when the temp outside drops to under 10 degrees overnight.

When I had outdoor piggies, I would generally give them a snugglesafe when it dropped to below 10 degrees whether that was night or day
