Ella has a poorly eye 😞 I’m guessing hay poke. I noticed it earlier today typical after the vets had already closed, it’s watery and red and after taking a photo with the flash on, it looks blue 😞

My vet opens for two hours on a Sunday for emergencies so I hope they’ll be able to fit her in.

Please send lots of healing vibes and keep your fingers crossed they can fit her in tomorrow

All the best for getting a slot tomorrow! These things typically happen on evenings or weekends. UK vets prioritise eye injuries so I am sure that your vets will make time for Ella if at all possible.

Eyes can deteriorate and ulcerate very quickly but thankfully, they also do heal very quickly again once you have the right treatment.

Goodness me girls!
My guys like to get hay pokes at similar times too!
Have you got a new batch of hay?
I’m sure Ella and Esme will be absolutely fine and will have sparkly happy eyes again in no time. I’ve had SO many hay poke incidents that I now always have eye treatments on hand.
You’re sure going through quite a tough time with your pets right now

Glad you were able to get them seen today. With the seeds out and having the eye drops they should heal up quickly. Wishing them a speedy recovery and you a less stressful time x

Aw sending healing wheeks to the girls and hugs for you Claire, don't these piggies just cause us so much stress!
I remember once last summer we 3 separate emergency vet trips in one day, Clover had a bad haypoke at 8am, just got home and Puggle had intensely squeaky wees, and Ollie by 2pm had bloaty gas.
So glad you were able to get both girls seen today, paws crossed they'll be fine in a few days x

At least you've managed to get them both seen and treated. They'll be feeling much better now those grass seeds are out! ❤️

Gosh that sounds so stressful 😞 Since Christmas we’ve had Elizabeth with her bleeding and lumps, Harrison cat with his thyroidectomy he’s still healing, Austin cat with his sprained paw, Morris cat being sick and not eating and now Ella and Esme. I can’t take anymore and neither can my purse 😞

Their eyes are so bloody and sore 😞 x

Aw - so glad to hear Ella and Esme have had their eyes cleared of irritating grass seed 😬 wishing them a speedy recovery x

Sorry you woke to Esme with hay poke as well. But it’s good you got them both seen. Hopefully the meds will do their work and they’ll be back to beautiful eyes soon.

Thank you everyone. I’m so stressed out 😞 The vet said to administer the corneal repair gel spaced out four times a day. Should I give them a dose during the night or will a dose at bedtime and then first thing in the morning be sufficient?

Whenever a vet asked me to space something out 3/4 times a day I would just do it during the day not the night. One before you go to bed and first thing in the morning is fine. You will find you will struggle even more if you take sleep away from yourself unnecessarily. I hope you manage to get some well needed rest and the girls are feeling much better soon

I’ve used nearly half a tube of the corneal repair gel already at £22 a tube from the vets it wasn’t cheap 😞 I’ve ordered a cheaper version from eBay so hopefully it’ll arrive soon

Both girls poorly eyes are open today although still bloody and sore 😞
