My piggies were out for their floor time this evening and as I went to shut one of the bedroom doors. I didn’t realise my little sow was behind me and think I may have slightly jarred her head in the door! Not fully closed but slightly caught her :( She squealed slightly but there was lots of teeth chattering afterwards. Instantly after, I sat down on the carpet to check her and she was all over me, climbing, playing, wanting to be stroked and of course, wheeking for food! She’s currently gnawing on a cardboard house followed by pop corning around like nobody’s business! Just fed her some pea flakes out of guilt too. I feel dreadful, should I be worried about any possible head injury? Or is her behaviour ok?

Oooops. Accidents happen. If she is acting normal then just keep an eye on her. But if you are worried get her checked at the vets.

You know your own piggy best.
If she is eating, drinking and moving ok then just keep a close eye on her for 24 hours.
If you notice any changes then pop her along to the vet, but hopefully it was more of a fright than anything.

I feel sooo awful! She’s acting completely normal now, but I’ll keep an eye on her. Thank you!

Thank you for your advice. Fingers crossed it was just a fright, but I feel terrible!

Hi!

Since your piggy is acting perfectly normal, I would just keep a casual eye on her for the next day or two but not worry too much. It very much looks like she has had a lucky escape so please take a deep breath and chalk it down as 'life lesson'. It is one of these things that can just happen.

With free-roaming piggies, it pays to never step back or sideways without looking and to always turn around and check behind you when leaving the room; in time you learn to do it automatically, as I know from my own experiences and narrow misses. Some piggies have a real talent for getting underfoot or in the way of things!
