Fed up of spending a fortune buying hay at my local pet shop everyweek for my two girls and spending a fortune. Where can I get them cheap, DUST FREE, tasty hay that'll last them a while but not take up too much room?
Thanks xx

I buy mine from countrywide stores, do you have these. Or from the farm down the road! There are a few online I'm sure someone will have links!

I have storage issues myself so I do understand. I also use hay as bedding so I had to find stuff that would last. For my four boys I buy Dust Free Hay from:

Not only are they great quality but it is so compressed each bale lasts ages. I buy five bales at a time and store them in an under stair cuboard. I would strongly recommend them.

Try hayforpets.co.uk relatively cheap and good quality. No such thing as completely dust free hay I'm afraid. But some hays are better quality than others with less dust.

Hi everyone, just joined!

This morning about 11am I ordered from the Dust Free Hay Company and I have just received a text message saying it'll be delivered tomorrow! I'm super happy so far.... I was about to buy 3 smaller bags of the timothy hay, for more money from petsupermarket before I read other posts about the DFHC. thanks!

Fingers crossed they love it....and it'll turn up :)

Hay for feeding can be expensive indeed, but I console myself with the knowledge that my piggies are getting the best (I use Burgess Excell). Their well being is more important than any amount of money. Money can be replaced, my piggies can't. ;)

Have you thought about buying a bale of hay instead?
I've got a full bale being delivered tomorrow morning - cost is £5 total for me and that will last about 2 months (using it for bedding as well as for feeding)

That's fantastic value where do you buy your hay from?

Preloved :)

If you create an account (free, only takes a minute to make one) then just type in "hay bale" and it sorts it showing the ones closest to you.

Can get a bale as cheap as £4 if you have a car / someone to pick it up for you.

They are easy to store as well - just stick it inside an old duvet cover and put it in a corner of the room - makes a great shelf hahaha.

Or if you have somewhere dry and out of the way to keep it, separate it into bin bags (but have to leave the top open as the plastic can make it sweat if you close the top)
