I need to get more hay for my guinea pigs, but the pet shop near my house has got no more Timothy hay. They only have Alfalfa hay for the time being. Is it ok if I feed them alfalfa hay until the Timothy hay arrives?

I appreciate it may not be easy for you, but no, alfalfa is not a grass hay (it is a legume) and consequently it is not suitable to be fed to piggies as their main hay. It is far too high in calcium.

Do they have any other hay available in the shop or any other shop you can go to?
Timothy, orchard, meadow are all fine.

I think they do have some meadow hay there. Thanks, as I was unsure of getting them alfalfa hay

Meadow hay is absolutely fine to use
