Last night I gave all my piggies their fresh food, filled up their food bowls and water bottle and put in their hay. I have only used at my boyfriends house the alfa hay as I have been told that its good for pregnant guinea pigs to eat. However I decided to get some Timothy Hay too. I put both types of hay in and Crater Head my pregnant piggie LOVES going under the hay. lol. I usually don't pile in too high however she some how managed to get under it and walk around with hay all over her lol. I can tell you now that the hoover will be coming out again today. Every night the hay not only goes in their cage but mostly on the carpet! lol

That happened with Rattie, but only when she was pregnant! She only went under it then, and when a new load went it, most of it end up on the floor!

None of my other piggies go under the hay, and she no longer does it now either! I thought that she might continue going under it and covering the babs, but no, she'd rather sit on them! lol

Kelly and piggies xx

lol thats funny my pigs do that. One word of advise if you have a local farmers market in your area. Pop down there as I went down to mine and a local farmer was selling large dustbin bag size of meadow hay for a great price of £1 each. gosh i bought 3 of them. pigs love it.

Heehee, piggies love to trundle and popcorn through hay :D They look so cute with it all stuck over their heads, lol. I have the cutest vision of Crater Head covered in it, lol.

Careful Ellie, a change in a piggies hay diet could make her ill and have diaherea (Sp?)

It's best to stick with one type of hay and not mix them.

I have used different types of hay in the past for many of my guinea pigs and they have always been fine. For now I will get them both types of hay as they prefer the Timothy Hay to sleep on and the Alfa hay to eat. They also can't burrow through the alfa hay but I have been told that is the best hay to give to a pregnant guinea pig so Crater only uses the Timothy Hay to go under and sleep on.

Ok, I did say it could possibly make her ill because if you switch back and fourth it will.

On most websites and books it says so, I always say "Better to be safe, then sorry" ;D
