any ideas to what hays I should get and any nice and good quality hay on a budget and how I can see if it is good quality or not?

Thanks for your help (in advance),

ElizaCavies xx

I buy a variety of hay. Excel and Timothy are both good.
Timothy hay comes with assorted extras like apple, dried flowers etc.
A pet shop warehouse is probably a good place if you’re on a budget.
We have one at a garden centre near us.

As they are babies, do we need to give them alfalfa hay as well as Timothy hay along with vitamin c enriched veg?

Thanks,

honestly I always fed my young sows with normal, soft and cheap hay (Vitakraft, Gimby, etc); never bought timothy. Rarely as a treat I give them Bunny Heu, but rarely. They have been eating fresh grass since the beginning. Never given alfa alfa and they have grown up amazingly (now they are 1 year and one weighs 1100g and the other one weighs 950g).
Bell peppers have (should have) enough vit C. In Guinea Lynx website you will find charts of all the vegs, also the list of the vegs richest of vit C.
I prefer soft hay because of the risk of eye poke. Piggies go through the hay keeping their eyes open; a lot of times some little piece of hay went into their eyes, but nothing happened
