So I was thinking a hay tray would be good and was planning to use a kitty litter tray can piggies climb in and out of a litter box or would they need ramps or does anyone know where I can get a low sided tray from?

Thanks

My piggies jump in and out of a small sized cat litter tray very easily and I also use a tray that some people would use in an office for stationary or files. I bought both from a general store on the high street but Amazon sell similar things too.

Hay trays have made cleaning so much easier, such a good idea! Just make sure you get a relatively large one - I have a slightly smaller one (probably about 35cmx25cm and it tips up when the piggies get it in - I have to always have a wooden bridge in it to hold it down!) - 45cm+ is probably ideal :)

Cat litter trays are perfect. Last time I visited a pet shop, they had all type of sizes. Hanging a hay rack above keeps everything more tidy. Have a look at your pet shops (Pets At Home in UK) or Amazon.

Yes they're great. I use one I got from a local pet shop, but it's quite shallow. This means I end up replacing the hay in it every day, so perhaps a more standard size litter tray would be a better plan! I've seen other piggies jump into the standard size ones very easily too.

I line mine with Back to Nature paper pellets as they're very absorbent and keep the smell down, but you can of course use whatever you like.

I use 32 litre under bed storage boxes as hay trays for my three. I cut the long side down and sanded away the sharp edges on one of them but not on the other. They dont seem to have any problems leaping in and out of them both and often make guinea pig sized tunnels in the hay. Aww.

I have also used small dog beds which already have low fronts

How odd the pics came out ok when I went to edit the post ... Not sure what happened.

I have used it like this. I put fleece under the hay at first but then realised after the first day (the piggies came home to us on xmas eve) that they were going to wee in that area A LOT! So changed and put a disposable baby changing mat from Aldi in the bottom and hay over. It’s actually worked really well and loads of the poo and wee have ended up being condensed into this area.
They don’t seem to be eating much hay though which I’m starting to worry about but will leave them to settle in a bit longer and see what happens.

Puppy pads are great in the litter tray especially if you get the cheaper ones.

I get 10 disposable baby changing mats for £2.49 at Aldi. Sometimes they have them on offer for £1.49. They are about 80x50 cm x

I use the felight (I think) cat litter trays from Asda. £1.50 on the pet aisle. These are quite low sided and none of my pigs have ever struggled to get in.

thanks all I'm gonna pop into b and m and pets at home to get a couple of things I think esp if chrimbo sale applies :)
