I'm thinking of having a tray inside the new c&c cage where I'll put some hay in , any cheap suggestions? Preferably something I can clean and it's easy for piggies to access. I'll still have fresh hay hanging from a rack. Cheers

Is this a litter tray type set up? i've got a hay rack hanging above a poundland cat litter tray filled with bedding and i find that very easy to clean and the pigs love it!

Yep litter tray set up, I was looking at a cat litter tray but wasn't sure if it was too deep for the piggies to climb into.

If you can find a poundland one my pigs have no problems with them unfortunately i havent seen them so often recently. Another option(depends where you live I'm in uk) are the wilkinsons trays, they seem very slightly taller but i would think they'd still be suitable. Best bet is to look at measurements or in a shop. I think the poundland ones are approx 5-7 cm deep

I used cat litter trays and the pigs were okay jumping in and out of them.

My older boars I used to saw the end of them for so they didn't have to jump.

I have seen a few people use plastic storage boxes with holes cut into them for doors as they keep the fleece a bit tidier. But none of my boys have been close enough that I would trust them in a contained space like that. The idea is fab though.

I use the cheap cat litter trays. My older guinea had trouble jumping into it so I cut the end off and filed it so it isn't sharp. I have one in the upstairs loft area with both ends cut off so they can walk through, it still contains the hay, etc.

i use cat litter trays, my piggies are fine jumping in and out.. they were medium sized i think and not too deep or expensive .. i line with newspaper then cat litter (Biocatolet) then hay..

Great thread. Was wondering about this myself. I was considering using small plastic dog beds as they have a nice low front bit.

I use a cat litter tray, cost about a fiver. It's about as tall as my pigs but they leap in with no problem. They like to burrow under the hay and hide.

Stupid question - but would a Guinea pig b tempted to eat cat litter? Just remembering instance with our Guinea pig where she was crunching on an arts and craft bead my daughter left out (almost had a heart attack)

Just saw a Bob Martin litter tray in tesco that is a good depth

Wood or paper based are generally safest. Steer clear of clumping or clay based

We use a Wilkos litter tray (see back of photo!) with a puppy pad in and hay on top and works well...our girls have no trouble getting into the tray!

I'm planning to get a low rise doggy tray that has a lower edge for my girls to get in and out of with ease

Low light pic of ours in the run. You can just see Jenny at the front as a white stripe and Timmy is the fuzzy white lump at the back.

I use Willi cat litter trays and even my smallest piggies can jump in and out of them no problem.

I use the small cat litter trays from the Range and a small plastic cat/dog bed. They love the bed as I pile the hay deep enough for them to burrow in. I line both with newspaper to soak up wee.
