Hay Storage

I was wondering how do properly store hay to keep it fresh for the longest and to keep it from being a breeding ground for bugs. Right now it is just in the cardboard box it came in, but I knkw that’s not the best place to store it. Please help.

Actually, cardboard box is great. Poke more holes on the box so it allows air circulation. If it comes with any plastic bags, remove the bag, and put the hay back in the box.

If I may ask, why remove the plastic bag?

Hay needs to breath. If it sits in a plastic bag, it can get mold.

Didn't know that about the plastic bag! My new hay has been sat in the bag for a couple of weeks... oops
