Hi you lovely lot.
so at present each of mine have a hay rack…and out of 8 piggies only one of them tends to climb into it and perch inside rack ontop of hay which I've now stopped her doing the little madam.
Racks are ok, apart from they tend to let a lot of hay through that just gets trampled, weed on etc, so I'm wondering what ideas people have to benefit piggies the same but doesn't allow very much waste as unfortunately there seems to be quite a lot.

sorry should have probably said has to be able to go in hutches

not really as dark when leave and dark when get home.
hutches are open plan with no bed area - just cos it gives more space and room for hides and fleece cosies.
Only one end where their litter trays go would be doable which measures 2 foot across and up

I bought this recently in Petsathome, my piggies love it and not much waste at all. It is sturdy and stable, made of natural willow so might get chewed.

I want something that will ideally go in corner or on wall. I'm thinking just goingbto have to get some chicken wire and put onto rack and wrap around

I've just bought a hay cube from the range. Some one on this forum had recommended it. It's just a grid cube that can clip on to something so it hangs off the floor. Obviously pigs won't be able to climb into it but it will keep the hay off the ground.

see i had a cube for rabbits and they never used it so i took it out.
However my concern would be if boo manages to climb into hay rack as it is she would no doubt climb onto cube and ice be worried with her hurting self.
Ive seen her in action when I've filled the racks with hay, she stands on back legs and climbs up and over and eats her way out or jumps off top…..all she needs is mission impossible song!haha

I use a mesh cutlery/utensil holder. It's too tall for the pigs to actually get in. It's my favourite hay rack i've had because it's quick and easy to fill.

Although i have previously used hay bags too and that worked really well! I've got a link to a tutorial but you can also buy them!

Thank you, I've tried the bags and they don't work.
Think what I'm going to do is we have 2 spare mesh hutch doors, will ask dad to cut them down to size so they slot in inside at end of hutch and can fill it all with hay (hope that makes sense, then board it up at top so the ninja doesn't get inor on!haha
