Hi everyone, my little boy Eggs (only have him about 4 months and he’s young) usually has one watery eye. It doesn’t seem to bother him at all and never appears to be an infection of any kind but I noticed he was squinting a lot and at first I was thinking probably just his usually watery eye but thank god I glanced again because then I realised oh it’s a piece of hay! Anyway I took this piece of hay out of his lower eyelid. He seems okay now and he’s just had lots of green pepper and he’s having some hay, just wondering would any of you recommend getting an antibiotic eye drop or is removal enough?

One of my OTRB boys Kip got very goopy/watery eyes a lot and used a cream called Isathal often enough so if anyone thinks it’s a good idea to get some I can ask my vet.

Eyes are considered an emergency so it’s a good idea to have him seen by the vet. Oftentimes we can’t see the damage that has been done to their eyes.

Hope he’s all better soon. Hay, who’d have it! ☺️

Finn had a hay poke, so I took out a piece from Finn's eye and he has been doing very well after that. If things got bad, I would have definitely taken him to the vet but he hasn't had any issues. I did keep an eye on Finn obviously.

Please have him seen by a vet. You can’t tell if there is any damage yourself. The vet needs to use a fluorescent dye to see what has occurred.
Please do not administer any eye drops yourself - only use drops as prescribed and directed by a vet. Isathal is a very commonly prescribed antibiotic for eye injuries
