My boar had orchard grass hay in his right eye and my vet two days ago, in the USA, prescribed Neomycin Bacitracin gel twice daily. I used it in the past when his tear duct inflamed. His eye is looking so much better.

I saw suggested to keep his eye moistened with some 'plain tear gel/viscotears'. I can't locate it in the USA. Would you know one? I found Siccaforte gel 10g Carbomer .2% is that the same ingredients?

Yes, it should be OK. Viscotears liquid gel (which is a brand here in the UK) also contains carbomer; it has been given to me by my vet.

I have seen bad eye injuries heal noticeably quicker (the hydration id getting into deeper levels in the eye than the medicated antibiotic drops/gel and the discomfort in the eye is much lower. You need to wait at least 30-60 minutes after the medication drops/gel to allow them to be fully absorbed.

The gel is easier to apply and longer lasting than drops; hence why I prefer it but tears fluid drops will do if that is all you can get; you will have to give them more often for the same effect, though.
