Hey guys! I noticed this little scab on my guinea pig's lip this morning and it wasn't there last night. Initially, I just thought it was a hay poke, but now I'm worried it might be a bacterial or fungal infection. What do you guys think is the cause of this scab and do you have any recommendations on what I should do?

Hello. It could be all of those things or even a wound from a cage mate. I’d get it checked out by a vet. It’s better to sort it quickly before it gets worse or spreads. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Hi and welcome

It doesn't look like cheilitis to me; just a minor scratch or poke that is already well on the way of healing without problems.

Please see a vet only in the unlikely case that you notice redness, swelling and hot skin (i.e. signs of an infection) in this area but if I were you, I would most definitely NOT lose any sleep over that scenario!
