hay poke.. can i do do anything?

can anyone advise me please is there anything i can do for hay poke other than get a vet appointment tomorrow? (unless it needs immediate medical attention?!) noticed my girl della has a slight puffy eye tonight and can see the hay when i pull down her eye slightly. trying not to freak out!

You need to see a vet with haypoke especially if you can see hay in there. The vet will carefully take the hay out and give you antibiotic eye drops.

She needs a vet. If you can see hay still in there then she needs to see a vet now as the hay will be constantly scratching and making it worse.

The vet will probably put some yellow/orange dye in your piggy's eye to check for potential ulcers. You may be told to go and see your usual vet in a week/10 days to check that they eye has healed properly.

update on della..
della has a laceration in her right eye from the hay, although when the vet checked her eye he couldn’t see the hay, the vet flushed her eye out for her while there and gave her some pain relief via injection, fingers crossed all should just improve from now!
eye drops 5 - 7 days, 1 drop every 12 hours. metacam 3 days (twice daily starting 23rd 11pm as pain relief lasted 24hour) then booking in a vet appointment at our normal vet for wednesday/thursday next week for a check up.

me too, i didn’t realise it was an emergency appointment i feel so bad we didn’t go when i noticed it! (around 2 hours before we went to vet) i just hope she hadn’t been like it all day! i’m normally able to observe them most of the day when i’m home but of course we moved yesterday and it was awful timing!
