Hey everybody, so, when I first got my Guinea Pigs a few months back I started putting the hay on the fleece and I started noticing a smell which was them peeing on the hay which absorbed the scent. I tried to get the hay off of the fleece by hanging it up. So, I took a piece of coroplast and bent a piece of my square gate pieces (some i had leftover) to make it curve and I am not sure if it was working? I mean they were eating the hay out of it but it just seemed to me like they were struggling to get the hay out. Does anyone have any experience of putting hay up instead of on fleece? Pictures of your own would be much appreciated. Thank you.

We like Rosewood corner rabbit litter trays to put hay in, as modelled here by beautiful Blodwen :) we also have a seperate cage area with no fleece where we put disposable paper bedding and newspaper down then floor hay on top, but in the fleecy areas we like these corner trays! We got them from Amazon, they have medium or large depending on the space and number of piggies, this is the large size, we have 2 medium ones too (we have a lot of piggies).

The problem with that is that they would pee in the hay. Making it smell which also bothers my nose and hurts. I am trying to keep it off fleece so I don't have this issue. Also, paper bedding is a no go they like to eat it 😐

I use cat litter trays, lined with newspaper and shredded egg cartons then pile the hay on top - I do change this each morning due to them weeing and pooping in it... I use fleece in my c & c cage...

I also use fleece. I spot clean the cage every morning but I'm looking for something to kind of attatch to the grids. My Guinea pigs do not care about sitting in theirs.

I have a large gravel tray from the local garden centre which I line with newspaper or a puppy pad and aubiose then put a big wodge of hay on that for them to eat/forage/sleep in. I clean it out every 2-3 days and it keeps hay off the fleece bedding (mostly).
