Hi I have 2 piggies (Archie and Elmo) who are housed in separate cages next to each other as they don't get on (both boars). They each have a pile of hay each day (placed next to their hideys). Both of them sleep on the hay sometimes (as well as in their hideys), and obviously eat it, but they also pee and poo in it! Is there any way to stop this please? I tried a hay rack but they seemed to miss the big pile of hay to snuggle under, and a litter tray didn't work either.

That's the joy of piggies I'm afraid. Mine do this too. Maybe you could offer a hay rack/ bag as well as the pile on the floor that way they will have some fresh.

Mine have taken to burying themselves in the hay now. Lol :xd:

Mine have clean hay in hay racks in the top and bottom of the double decker hutch. They also have a deep layer of hay on top of newspaper. The hay is around 2-3" deep once it has been trampled on. They still prefer to eat the stuff that has been trampled on and wee'd and poo'd on rather than have the nice fresh stuff out of the hay racks. It just must taste nicer I suppose!

Ha ha that's piggies for you it seems. Maybe not as logical as us humans but we adore them anyway!
